Zeno Sparkling Rosé: alcohol-free bubbles

The pink counterpart to the Sparkling White, and the bottle Zeno aims most squarely at the party. Pink bubbles do something to a group: they look festive, they invite, and they let you join in without drinking. That is exactly where an alcohol-free sparkling rosé earns its place.

As with the white version, the fizz is the rescue here. Carbonation gives the wine a structure that alcohol-free still rosé lacks, and that lifts this glass above the average alcohol-free rosé.

In the glass: clear raspberry pink with a fine mousse. Strawberry, raspberry, a floral touch and some red candied fruit that earns the “aromatic” on the label. The bubbles are lively, the attack cheerful, the finish short but fresh. A glass that looks better than many a real party rosé.

Where it scores, and where it gives way

The win: presentation and approachability. This is the bottle you open when half the group isn’t drinking and you still want to raise a glass. It looks serious and tastes refreshing.

The first caveat: of the two sparkling Zenos, this is the sweeter. Where the Sparkling White stays dry and taut, the Rosé leans more on fruit and residual sugar. That makes it more approachable but also less food-friendly. If you want dry, choose the white.

And like the white, the fizz fades fast after opening. The structure to hold the carbonation isn’t there, so this is a bottle for the moment, not for tomorrow’s leftovers. Pour it ice-cold and finish it.

When to pour the Zeno Sparkling Rosé

A birthday, drinks, a summer party, any moment that calls for bubbles when not everyone wants alcohol. As an aperitif or with fruity desserts. Serve ice-cold, around 6 degrees. Not with savoury dishes, where the white wins.
